Frequently Asked Questions

What is counselling?
It is not always possible to speak to family or friends about thoughts or feelings that worry or frighten you. Counselling is an opportunity to talk to a trained professional about difficulties in a safe and confidential setting about your concerns.

What type of counselling do you offer?
The psychodynamic model of counselling uses the relationship between the client and counsellor to unfold, allowing thoughts and feelings to be thought about as they arise. This includes linking past experiences with your current situation.

What are your qualifications?
I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, a professional member of BACP, FPC and UKCP.

I trained and qualified with WPF, who provide training based on psychoanalytic principals and methods. It is a long and rigourous training, including personal therapy prior to and throughout the duration of the course. I hold a further Diploma in working with Adolescents.

What is BACP?
I am a BACP registered counselor. BACP is the UK’s national registering body for counsellors and its’ counsellors adhere to a strict ethical framework.

What will happen when I make contact?
You will be offered an assessment where your difficulties can be thought about, to ensure that psychodynamic counselling is right for you at this time in your life.

How do I make an appointment?
You can fill in the contact form on the website, or telephone 01923 661147. You may get an answer machine – please leave your name and number and a time when it will be convenient to contact you.
